So jeff and I went out tonight to a friends surprise party and ended up sitting at home for almost an hour afterwards having another heart to heart about his mom. He usually keeps it hidden away, but when he has had a beer or two it sneaks up. It really bothers him that she wasn't here to see our wedding or won't be here to hold her first grandchild and it gets me too. I know it also bothers him that his dad has shut out anything related to her and won't acknowledge her, even though he never says anything about it.
We decided that our first daughter will be named Cadence Jean because we both love the name Cadence and we want our daughter (and son) to grow up hearing lots of stories about their grandma. Jean, we miss you and not a day goes by where your son doesn't think of you. You would be so proud of him, you raised an amazing, loving, and caring man.

I'm so grateful that Gome has you to talk to about his Mom. You would be Jean's daughter. You should (and will) hear many great stories about your Mom. Jean's family will help you get to know her better. Oh, my - you two would love each other.
